5 Reasons to Hire A Social Media Manager

As a business owner in 2014, you know that social media is a crucial piece in successful marketing. The proof is in the pudding with social network giant, Facebook now having over 25 million Business Pages. However, with such a surge of businesses on social media, it makes it more difficult for a business to rise above the noise.

 

With this being the case, Facebook and other social media platforms have changed their algorithm to make it harder for businesses to reach people’s feeds. The main two measures for what gets displayed and what doesn’t, is quality and engagement. It’s also been announced by Facebook that paid advertising accounts will get businesses a leg up on those who don’t invest marketing dollars on their social site.

 

In leu of these changes, it’s important to stay on top of the top reasons why you need to hire a Social Media Manager:

1. Marketing is Redefined. Business owners have accepted this fact. However the majority still haven’t truly transitioned out of the old school approaches to marketing on social media. The result of this, is businesses using Social Pages as glorified digital billboards and coupons. A Social Media Manager would instead, leverage a business presence on social sites with a dynamic mix of content that will “make friends” and broaden a company’s reach, which would naturally convert to more sales.

2. Quality Content Requires Research. Social media posts that make the cut in feeds revolve around what’s relevant and happening in the world. To produce the kind of engaging content that people like, share, pin and tag require not only an understanding of what to post, but where.

3. Savvy Surveillance Equals Success. Businesses seem to believe that implementing a simple analytics program will demystify the  questions they    have to social media success. But the reality is that every single post needs to       be evaluated to     glean its success or failure. It’s not enough to know the     numbers. You have to     understand who these “numbers” are, and why they   interact with your page to generate more sales.

4. Time. Time is money. No one believes this more that a business owner. If so facto, when can you afford the time it takes to learn how to maximize Social Media for your business? To make it worth your while on any level, you’d have to effectively understand which social platform best serves your particular business, when and what to post (or not post), and constantly keep up with the changes that make your content continue to convert. Do you have that kind of time? We’d bet a million dollars, we know the answer.

5. Maximized Investment. A successful social media campaign requires persistence, patience, and a serious investment. Companies have somewhat wised up to this, so hire an intern or employee who’s dedicated to the myriad of marketing efforts needed for a social presence that makes an impact. Putting this on the shoulders of one person can be overwhelming, and often results in a mediocre ROI. However, if you opt to hire full-service social marketing management, you get a team of experts rather than one burnt out employee for about the same cost.

Megan Dickey is the Digital Marketing Project Manager at Social Spice Media, where she oversees incoming marketing projects and ensures each one runs smoothly from start to finish. She is passionate about building strong client relationships, providing clear communication, and delivering a positive experience through every update and milestone. Before joining Social Spice Media, Megan spent nearly nine years at Crescendo Interactive as a Marketing Coordinator and later on a Marketing Specialist, helping clients connect their organization’s mission to their donor base through effective marketing collateral and strategy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Graphics from California Lutheran University.

Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband of over seven years and their two young daughters. Together, they love family time, weekend errands, church, and staying busy with all the fun that comes along with raising little ones.

She moved to Ventura, CA in 1992 & began working for a manufacturing company in Ojai, CA which later moved to Oxnard, CA. Throughout the last 30 years, she has played many roles within the manufacturing company including Staff Accountant, Controller, Chief Financial Officer & HR Administrator.

When she’s not “counting beans”, Kay enjoys going to music concerts, hanging out with friends & taking long walks while listening to audio books.

Cassie Ramble

She started her professional career on-camera in HGTV’s “Design on a Dime” and later moved behind the scenes where she worked as a freelance Art Director and Project Manager for the television commercial industry. Throughout the years, Summer has been part of dozens of highly successful commercial campaigns for clients including Netflix, MasterClass, the NFL, Target, eBay, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Moet, Disney, Toyota, Hyundai, and Chevy.

Jonathan Boring is a digital marketing expert with more than two decades of proven success in corporate branding, sales and communications. Jonathan founded Social Spice Media in 2012, with the vision of helping corporations bridge the interconnected and digital communications through a strategic use of technology combined with creative marketing solutions. Jonathan has spent the past 15 years immersed in digital marketing with an emphasis in social media. Prior to founding Social Spice Media, Jonathan served as Director of Sales and Marketing at The California Wine Club (CWC). His role included all aspects of social media engagement and marketing, as well as business development.
