04 Dec Fuel Your Yule Social Media Strategy
Can you believe it’s already December? It’s almost as if November didn’t even happen. This is how many social media managers feel when the holidays seem to creep up so quickly.
But just because your customers are heading out for the holidays doesn’t mean you get a break. Social Spice Media offers the following bright ideas you can use to light up your Yule season:
Utilize the Holiday Color Palette
If you’re using a lot of imagery in your posts (which you should!), make your photos festive. Incorporate green and red colors into your content and/or blue and white colors to represent winter and snowfall. You want your customers to know you’re getting into the holiday spirit as much as they are.
Pro tip: Remember to be inclusive of those who may not celebrate Christmas. Create a Hanukkah post, wishing observers of that holiday a happy December as well.
Conduct a Poll
You can tailor Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram polls to fit your business’s niche. If you work in food services, ask your followers what their favorite holiday treats are. If you sell apparel, encourage your audience to vote for their favorite ugly Christmas sweater.
You can also create polls that have a more functional purpose. Ask your customers or clients what suggestions or recommendations they have that would improve their customer experience. With the New Year coming up, it’s not too early to start thinking about what you can do better in 2019.
‘Tis the Season for Storytelling
People tend to be more sentimental during the holiday months, and who can resist a story with a happy ending? Curate and share heartwarming stories about a happy customer who benefitted from your products or services. This is a great opportunity for you to create content about customers who scored a good deal with you, overcame adversity with your help, or have their own special testimonial to share.
The Best is Yet to Come
Give your audience hints as to what awaits them in the next few weeks, whether it’s important news updates, new products, big upcoming sales, or new website features. You’ll be able to stay in your customers’ newsfeeds and keep them excited about what they can expect from you, even during the long winter months.
Spend More Time Engaging with Your Audience
The holidays are for spending more time with the people you care about, which couldn’t be more true for social media marketers. Make time to respond to customer queries, comments, and suggestions.
You can also hold a photo contest that asks followers to send in photos of themselves using your product or sharing their success stories. Offer some sort of giveaway prize to the winner.
Shareable Posts for When You’re Charitable
It’s the season of giving. Does your business work with a charity? If so, highlight the volunteer work you’ve done or a fundraiser you were involved with via a social media post. Be careful to craft the wording in a way that brings more attention to the charity instead of touting your selflessness. Tag the name of the charity in your post (who will hopefully share about your business on their social media channels in return) and be detailed about what the organization does and why they’re a worthy cause. Ideally, you’ll spread the spirit of generosity among your audience members.
Take a Break, Go Network!
It sounds counterintuitive, but sometimes the most effective way to make lasting connections is by meeting with people in-person. As a supplement to your social media strategy, make an effort to take a break from the screen and attend holiday parties and other networking mixers where you can forge working relationships.
