How To Grow Your Brand Using YouTube

When it comes to growing your brand, YouTube holds enormous potential.

In fact, by 2017, it has been predicted that online videos will make up nearly 70% of consumer internet traffic (Kapost).

In other words, if you don’t have a video strategy yet, you should at least be thinking about creating one.

Regardless of whether or not you have video assets at this time, here are several tips on how to grow your brand on YouTube.


Liberal Use Of Your Logo

Your brand is how people perceive you.

Oftentimes, your logo is what customers remember most about your business. Or the logo sparks the memory people have of what your brand stands for.

If you don’t have a memorable and unique logo yet, you’re going to want to invest in one, because you’re going to be using it everywhere on your YouTube channel.

Your logo should be in all of your videos, as well as your channel art. Over time, people will come to associate a particular type of content with your logo. If they enjoy what you have to offer, they’ll take the relationship further by subscribing to your channel, liking your videos, or sharing your videos with their friends on social media.

When it comes to branding, familiarity is the name of the game, so make sure to build brand awareness with repeated impressions.

Create Effective Channel Art

There are essentially two images that help to brand your channel; the first is your channel icon, and the second is your channel art.

Develop Memorable Intro Videos

YouTube gives you the opportunity to create intro videos for those who are new to your channel. This is quite possibly one of the best opportunities you have at showcasing your brand.

Of course, your intro videos should not tell the entire history of your company, as this can bore and overwhelm the viewer. Keep it simple, keep it short, give viewers a reason to subscribe to your channel, and remember to brand the video.

It’s also a good idea to let your viewers know how often you will be publishing content. This gives them something to look forward to, and keeps them coming back.

 

Share Your Videos On Other Social Networks

A fairly obvious way to promote your videos is to share them on sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Google+. You can also include them in blog posts or direct attention to them on your website.

Another way to grow your brand using your videos is to create a branded hashtag. This is simply a hashtag that you would add to all of your posts that discuss your videos. You can encourage your audience members to use the same hashtag by continually using it yourself.

Cross-promotion is a really great way to build your following online. By sharing your videos in various places, you can also grow your YouTube following.

 

Final Thoughts

The average YouTube user visits the site 14 times per month, and spends an average of 25 minutes on the site each time (Pingdom Royal).

There are plenty of opportunities to grow your brand using YouTube. The key is to figure out how you can cross-promote from one platform to another.

Don’t forget to stay consistent, as it can take time to find recognition on YouTube. Stick with a regular publishing schedule, and promote your new videos whenever you publish them!

Jonathan Boring is a digital marketing expert with more than two decades of proven success in corporate branding, sales and communications. Jonathan founded Social Spice Media in 2012, with the vision of helping corporations bridge the interconnected and digital communications through a strategic use of technology combined with creative marketing solutions. His goal is to develop, improve, and maintain powerful social media integration programs in order to increase awareness, brand loyalty, website traffic, and sales. Jonathan has spent the past 15 years immersed in digital marketing with an emphasis in social media. Prior to founding Social Spice Media, Jonathan served as Director of Sales and Marketing at The California Wine Club (CWC). His role included all aspects of social media engagement and marketing, as well as business development.
